someone you know have experienced an incident of bias,

having personal problems that you need help with or just
want to talk about. These may include homesickness, other
“feeling out of sorts issues”, addictive problems,
disputes with your peers,
needing to miss class – just about anything. Our staff can
help, or, if needed, help you find other resources. |

If you
experience behavior on campus that is hurtful, disruptive
in the classroom or affects civil dialogue on campus, we
can address the issues, even though hurtful behavior can’t
always be stopped. We try to balance the values of
non-discrimination with the tenets of free speech.

If you feel
you have been victimized or harassed by another in the university, our
office provides a judicial affairs system that includes
arbitration and mediation to help you resolve your own
problems, hopefully amicably, as well as fact finding

questions about academic integrity and ethics, including
plagiarism and the appropriate use of electronic resources
at the university. Responsible use policies concerning
electronic resources are essential for you to know. You

If you are
interested in our efforts to provide a welcoming
environment for all at Tufts, you may want to see the
publication published by
the Group of Six, which includes
the Dean of Students’ Centers for many of the community’s
populations. You
may also find out about the Centers’ work, which offer
unique services and programs that enrich multicultural
life on campus. |

If you are
concerned about residential life issues,
the Residential
Life Office in South hall is your best resource. The
publication
Habitats
describes
many Residential Life policies and option. |

To launch
your involvement in any one of a huge range of student
organizations on campus or to get involved in the work of
the class councils or student government,
the Office of
Student Activities is an excellent starting point for
information. |

If you are
concerned about privacy issues or any legal issues that
may affect you, including privacy of your directory
information, records, what the university talks to your
families about, restraining orders, other court
involvement, come see us in the Dean of Students’ suite of
offices in Dowling Hall. |

You should
also know that the university offers a comprehensive
Health Service, including an
Alcohol and
a Health Educator,
and a full service Counseling Center, both of which are
available to you twenty-four hours a day. After
hours, you may reach these resources through the Tufts
