Forum Location

Tufts University, located in Medford, Massachusetts, is 5 miles northwest of Boston, served by Logan International Airport. Participants may want to check flights into regional airports such as Providence, RI and Manchester, NH.

Forum Accommodations

Special rates are offered at the following hotels. Please call them directly to reserve rooms; mention the Tufts/IBM Best Practices Forum at Tufts University.  Commercial bus transportation during the forum will be provided from the University Park Hotel and the Sheraton Commander Hotel to the Tufts University campus.

Please make reservations early because Boston is a popular tourist destination during the summer months.

Airport to Hotel Transportation

The cab fare to the Cambridge hotels and the Tufts campus is approximately $35 from Logan International Airport.  Also, you can arrange to be picked up using these airport shuttle services: Logan Airport Shuttle, 1-800-225-4846; U.S. Shuttle, 1-877-SHUTTLE.  

Hotel to Campus Transportation

Commercial bus transportation during the forum will be provided from the University Park Hotel and the Sheraton Commander Hotel to the Tufts University campus.  Exact times are still being confirmed and an update will be provided at the forum and at the Sheraton Commander and University Park at MIT hotels. The tentative schedule is Wednesday from 11:30 - 7:30p.m., Thursday from 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. and in the evening for our evening event. On Friday, bus transportation will be provided from the University Park Hotel and the Sheraton Commander to campus from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m.   Luggage storage will be available at Dowling Hall which will be convenient to bus drop off and cab/shuttle pick up location.  If you are returning to your hotel after the Forum to spend more time in Boston, you will not need to bring your luggage to Tufts but you will need to arrange for a cab back to your hotel.

Because we are using commercial bus transportation and not campus vans, and due to traffic in a major metropolitan city at the height of tourist season, transportation will be scheduled according to the forum program. Interim transportation needs will be the responsibility of the attendee.  

Travel from Tufts Campus to the Airport

To make your travel arrangements from Tufts Campus back to Logan Airport you will need to contact AAA cab of Medford, 781-396-2400, U.S. Shuttle, 1-877-SHUTTLE (at least 48 hours prior to departure), or Logan Airport Shuttle, 1-800-225-4846.  We recommend you allow 2 hours prior to flight time.  The designated pick up point on campus should be 419 Boston Avenue (at the entrance to Dowling Hall parking garage and the campus police office).

Return Flight Information

The Forum ends Friday at 4:00 p.m. It is suggested that you schedule your return flights after 6:00 p.m. if you are returning to Logan airport via a shuttle or at 6:30 p.m. if you are returning a rental car.
