Abstract

In this session we will explore the use of the World Wide Web as a platform for building relationships with constituencies. Tufts University will demonstrate how they have implemented interactive web services to bypass the lags and costs inherent in traditional media to provide more personalized and timely information to students. The panel will discuss a variety of way that students can take advantage of web based services beginning as a high school student inquiring and applying, enrolling, managing their student information and staying involved as an alum.  A discussion about the challenges and pitfalls of using technology creatively as well as the future of web development will be discussed.

Patricia A. Sheehan, Director of Technology, Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs, Tufts University

Leading the planning, delivery and implementation of IT solutions to Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs.  A member of the Tufts community for 13 years, Tricia first started as a Programmer/Analyst for Undergraduate Admissions and continued to develop technical and processing expertise in the areas of Financial Aid, Student Employment and Career Services.  As technical representative of the Student Services Redesign Team, Tricia has continued to develop expertise in process redesign and improved electronic services to the remaining areas of student services including the Student Desk Team, Bursar, Student Records, Program Support and Undergraduate Education.  BS in Economics, Stonehill College, North Easton, MA.
