Pre-Orientation
Optional Programs Introduction
Each year Tufts offers several innovative, optional
pre-orientation opportunities to incoming students.
Incoming student arrive to campus early and join their
classmates in small groups to participate in one of
these five programs. Involvement in the programs are
based on application processes. To find out more about
each of the pre-orientation programs and how to apply,
please refer to their individual descriptions and links.
C.A.F.E.
CAFÉ (Conversation, Action, Faith, Education) is a fun and engaging
five-day interfaith program based around dialogue,
student experiences, and faith-based service.
F.I.T.
FIT (Fitness and Individual Development at Tufts) is for
students interested in learning about exercise,
nutrition, stress management, recreational
opportunities, and how to balance school, work and other
obligations.
F.O.C.U.S.
FOCUS (Freshman Orientation CommUnity Service) is for
students interested in an exciting community service
experience which will help ease the transition as a
first year student in college. FOCUS offers
pre-orientation community service trips in the greater
Boston area.
I.O.
IO (International Orientation) is for students who
reside abroad and for domestic students who have
international interests. Activities are planned both on
the Tufts campus and throughout the city of Boston and
are sponsored by the International Center.
T.W.O.
TWO (Tufts Wilderness Orientation) is for students
looking to experience the energy, intelligence, and
friendliness of Tufts in a setting unique to New England
- forests that are healthier now than they were 100
years ago. Now in our 23rd year, TWO runs five-day
backpacking and canoeing expeditions led by
well-trained, experienced student leaders.
