FOCUS

FOCUS was started in 1997 by Jared Townshend and David Lipsky. Their goals were to provide an exciting community service experience and to ease the transition as a first year student in college. FOCUS offers pre-orientation community service trips in the greater Boston area.

We understand that being a first-year student can be a bit overwhelming as you enter into a community with many new faces. FOCUS puts you in a group with 8 to 10 other first yeas, along with 2 upperclassmen leaders who will take you on a five-day, four-night trip into the vast and rewarding field of community service.

FOCUS is completely organized and run by student volunteers, many of who participated in FOCUS their freshman year. Each year, FOCUS is run by three student coordinators and 24+ great student leaders and support staff.
