Web Registration Instructions

Welcome to Web Registration at Tufts!  The following instructions will step you through the registration process.

If you have problems accessing the system, please feel free to call the Student Services Desk at 627-2000 or email the office at studentservices@tufts.edu.

STEP 1: Load the web browser of your choice.

STEP 2: Click here or go to https://aseonline.tufts.edu/   (don’t forget the “s” after http!)  or enter through the Student Services web site at http://studentservices.tufts.edu   Click on Registration and then the SIS OnLine logo on the right hand side of the page.

STEP 3: Click on Login to SIS.

STEP 4: You are prompted to enter your student ID number and PIN.  Enter your 6-digit birth date (mmddyy) as your PIN.  You will be prompted to reset your PIN to a 4-digit number after your initial log in.

STEP 5: Click  REGISTRATION  on the blue navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.

STEP 6: Click REG STATUS to see if you are eligible to register.  If you are not eligible to register for Fall you probably have not had your advisor approval posted OR holds have been put on your record.  You need to make an appointment with your advisor and, for any other holds, you will need to resolve these issues quickly.

IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER

STEP 7: Click REGISTER.  The system will default to Fall Semester 2006.  Click SUBMIT.

STEP 8: You have two options to register for courses.  (Remember, you can only register for courses during the assigned registration period.  You may register after your assigned date and time and between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.)

OPTION 1: You may register for a course by providing the subject (from the drop down list), course number and section OR you may enter the call number in the area provided.  You may submit multiple courses or call numbers.

Click SUBMIT

The system will tell you if your requested course(s) have been processed successfully.  If your requests have not been processed successfully (a course may be closed) you will be given clear instructions as to how to resolve the problem.

OPTION 2: If you are unfamiliar with course numbers, sections and call numbers, use the POWER SEARCH option from the blue navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

You will need to provide a course subject (from the drop down list) and a course level (Undergraduate or Graduate).  You may further refine your search criteria by providing preferences for course meeting days and times.

Click SUBMIT.

The left hand column will allow you to add or waitlist for a course.

The system will tell you if your requested course(s) has been processed successfully.  If your requests have not been processed successfully (a course may be closed) you will be given clear instructions as to how to resolve the problem.

Your schedule will be updated as you progress through the registration process.  You will not be allowed to register for additional courses once you have met your credit limit.

Once you are satisfied with your schedule click EXIT to exit the system.  It is imperative that you exit the web browser if you are using a computer shared by more than one user.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.    What if I need technical help?

R.     The first screen of SIS Online provides you with information regarding system requirements.  If your PC or Mac does not meet the minimum requirements you can register at one of the Tufts Computer Labs.

Q.    What if I cannot log in?

R.     Call the Student Services Desk at 627-2000, email the office at studentservices@ase.tufts.edu or come to the Student Services Desk at Dowling Hall for assistance.

Q.    What if the registration system seems to be “down?”

R.     During the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. you should keep trying to access the web site.  (The system will not respond before or after these times.) In the event of technical problems, information will be posted to the web.  You can also call the Student Services Desk at 627-2000.  You are encouraged to regularly check your email as this is how you will receive any updates about web registration.

Q. What if I don’t really like computers or I need help registering for courses?

R   Come to the Student Services Desk for assistance.

Q. Should I waitlist for a course?

R. You need to use your best judgment.  Check to see where you are on the waitlist.  When you waitlist for a course, credits   are counted against your credit load.  Although students will automatically be enrolled in a course when a space becomes available, it is not recommended to waitlist for more than 2 courses.  All students who are enrolled in a course from the waitlist will be notified via email that they have been enrolled in the course.

Q.    Why am I being required to input the number of credits for some courses?

R.     These are variable credit courses.  You will be required to enter a value.  The professor determines the actual credits   earned for variable credit courses.  Consult the instructor if you have concerns.
